Job Summary

Youth Advocate Programs Inc. (YAP) is a national nonprofit that provides community-based alternatives to youth incarceration and residential placement. Founded in 1975 and headquartered in Harrisburg PA YAP partners with youth justice child welfare behavioral health and education systems to deliver individualized wraparound services that keep youth safely in their homes and communities.

YAPs model focuses on building strong relationships with youth and families connecting them to local resources and supporting positive life outcomes through strength-based culturally responsive approaches. Advocates work directly in the community to help participants develop skills meet goals and strengthen family and community connections

Status: Part Time Hourly

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Summary of the Position: Hourly Part Time position serving youth and families throughout Osceolaare available.

  • Applicant must be dependable committed and able to serve as a positive role model for youth in the community school and home settings.
  • The Primary responsibilitiesof the Advocate are to initiate organize plan develop and implement direct advocacy services to assigned participant and their families.
  • All service plans will be based on a strength-based approach using the wrap around model.
  • This position offers flexible hours competitive weekly pay mileage and activity reimbursement
  • Required to be available during afternoons/early evenings and weekends.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience in community work and knowledge of community resources
  • Experience working with at-risk youth and families
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience using an Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Reliable transportation valid drivers license and current auto insurance coverage is required.
  • Travel will be part of the position (Travel within local county and community to homes and school) and must be willing to transport in personal vehicle.
  • Flexible Schedule - May be required to work afternoon evening and weekend hours based on school and family schedules.
  • Bilingual/Spanish Speaking is a plus.
