About this Position

The Oklahoma Local Technical Assistance Program (OKLTAP) at Oklahoma State University is one of 51 LTAP Programs located throughout the United States. The Federal Highway Administration and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation fund the Oklahoma Local Technical Assistance Program. LTAP Programs provide training and technical assistance to government entities that plan maintain and construct transportation systems at the local level.

The Coordinator plans develops and delivers training programs and educational resources for transportation professionals. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to relay technical transportation information to program staff and subject matter experts in an effort to identify and provide training and technical assistance resources.

This position collaborates with the LTAP Manager program staff and subject matter experts on curriculum development training delivery and outreach to local transportation agencies. The Coordinator develops instructional materials coordinates workshops and conferences and facilitates training courses related to local transportation topics such as roadway maintenance safety asset management and infrastructure operations.

The Coordinator ensures training content and delivery methods are appropriate for adult learners by incorporating principles of adult education and workforce development. The Coordinator works with subject matter experts and instructors in adapting instructional materials and training formats to meet the needs of diverse audiences including public works staff supervisors engineers and local government officials.

Primary responsibilities include development of training curriculum and educational materials; scheduling coordinating and delivering in-person and virtual training programs; preparing technical resources and informational materials for local transportation agencies and training classes; and collection of program data training evaluations and reporting requirements. The Coordinator may provide basic technical assistance to local agencies and connect stakeholders with appropriate subject matter experts as needed. The Coordinator leads outreach through relationship and partnership development and learner recruitment through creative marketing efforts.

This position requires in-state and out-of-state travel and may occasionally require evening and weekend work including duties that extend beyond a standard 40-hour work week.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors

    Business engineering education or related as determined by the department

    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience. Demonstrated proficiency in customer service event planning relationship development and marketing. Post-secondary education may be substituted for experience

  • Certifications Registrations and/or Licenses:

    Have before hire and maintain after hire a valid drivers license.

  • Skills Proficiencies and/or Knowledge:

    The candidate should possess proficiency in the use of Microsoft Windows and standard office software including Microsoft Word PowerPoint Outlook and Adobe Acrobat. The ability to research applicable laws regulations and technical information is required in order to provide professional and technical assistance and support development of educational and multimedia presentation materials.

    The candidate must be able to communicate technical information clearly and effectively and the capability to present seminars workshops and training sessions to adult learners with varying educational backgrounds and professional experience.

    This position requires the ability to travel throughout the state including overnight stays that may range from one to five nights per week depending on program needs.

    The incumbent must be able to operate computers projectors and other standard office and instructional equipment. A valid drivers license is required and the candidate must be able to legally operate passenger vehicles light trucks and vans.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors

    Business engineering transportation education or related as determined by department

  • 4 years of experience in a transportation related position. One year of experience instructing adult learner courses in technical topics.
