Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations**

Nature of Work

Thefundamental reason this classification exists is to plan coordinate and directthe activities of the Sanitation duties include developing implementing and enforcing policiesand procedures for the overall administration and generally overseeing alldepartment activities such as collection and transportation of solid waste andrecyclables street sweeping and litter control. The Director of Sanitation reports to the Director of Public Works.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelorsdegree in Public Administration Business Administration or a closely relatedfield and five (5) years of highlyresponsible management experience directing the activities of multiple workcrews involved in the collection and transportation of solid waste.

NOTE: Qualifying education training andexperience that provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities toperform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Must be willing to work nights weekends and holidays andwilling to be on call to respond to emergency incidents as needed.
