Main Purpose of Job

The EnvironmentalCompliance Supervisor manages the Central Maryland Section within the AirQuality Compliance Program Field Services Division. The primary purpose of theposition is to ensure adherence to air pollution requirements throughout thestate by supervising lower-level Environmental Compliance Specialists. Theincumbent in position performs supervisory duties focused on environmentalregulatory compliance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:Eight years of experience performing environmental regulatorycompliance work in the areas of water pollution control; sediment and erosioncontrol; tidal and non-tidal wetlands; flood control and waterway construction;storm water management; coal non-coal and surface mining; air quality and airmanagement control; solid waste management; hazardous waste control; and oilpollution control.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute sixty credit hours from an accreditedcollege or university which includes thirty credit hours in any combination ofdisciples such as earth science environmental science geology civil orenvironmentalengineering biology chemistry agronomy forestry or otherrelated disciplineandtwo years of experience performingenvironmental regulatory inspection or investigation work related to Statefederal or local regulation code or standardcompliance for four years ofthe required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelors degree froman accredited college or university in earthscience environmentalscience geology civil or environmental engineering biology chemistryagronomyforestry or other related disciplineandfouryears of experience performing environmental regulatory compliancework inmore than one of the following areas: water pollution control; sediment anderosion control; tidal and non-tidal wetlands; flood control and waterwayconstruction; storm water management; coal non-coal and surface mining; airquality and air management control; solid waste management; hazardous wastecontrol; and oil pollution control for the required experience.

may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as acommissioned officer in Environmental Engineering and Natural Resourcesclassifications or Environmental Engineering and Natural Resources specialtycodes in the Engineering and Natural Resources field of work on a year-for-yearbasis for therequiredexperience

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.

2. Employees in this classification may be required to obtain and maintain certification or license in the designated environmental compliance area.
