Join our Natural Systems & Restoration Bureau

Step into a vital role supporting the Surface Water Improvement and Management (SWIM) program and District Initiative construction projects focused on ecological restoration and water quality improvement. As part of our team youll conduct construction inspections participate in progress and design review meetings and maintain detailed field documentation that keeps our projects on track and within compliance. You will also perform essential field work prepare NPDES maintenance reports monitor conditions at SWIM project sites and help our Environmental Scientists and Engineers by coordinating safety equipment and field resources.

Starting Compensation:

Field Services Compliance Inspector 2: $20.78 - $26.41
Field Services Compliance Inspector 3: $22.13 - $28.13
Field Services Compliance Inspector 4: $23.86 - $32.36
Field Services Compliance Inspector 5: $27.82 - $37.74

Thestarting salary ranges are included for the Field Services Compliance Inspector profile which reflects the minimum to approximately 49.4% of the respective pay grades. The starting hourly rate will be based on the education and experience of the successful candidate. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award applicable pay increases based on positive employee performance.

Essential Functions

    • Conduct construction inspections on SWIM District Initiative projects to ensure compliance with plans specifications and safety requirements.
    • Attend construction progress meetings and design review meetings to provide field insight and support project coordination.
    • Maintain detailed and accurate daily field reports documenting site activities conditions and contractor performance.
    • Perform field work to support project monitoring environmental assessments and maintenance needs.
    • Prepare NPDES maintenance reports for the Section in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
    • Monitor site conditions and document any operational or environmental issues.
    • Assist SWIM Environmental Scientists and Engineers by coordinating safety equipment field resources and logistical support.

    Working Conditions

    Employee works in both a standard office environment and in the field. Regular travel during the workday is required.

    In-office:Performs continuous repetitive tasks (to include keyboarding) with one or both hands. Occasionally lifts and carries objects up to 10 pounds. Occasionally requires bending and reaching above shoulder level.

    In-field:Work performed in the field may often be in remote and undeveloped areas of the District under adverse weather conditions. Travel and some outdoor labor may be required. May be exposed to extremes in elements temperature and humidity and to a variety of pests including mosquitoes and ticks. Must be able to able to bend lift carry and reach above
    shoulder level. May occasionally require the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Must be able to operate a motorized vehicle for extended periods some driving may be in off-road (4x4) conditions.

    The District will determine eligibility for employment solely from the information provided on a District employment application.     Additional Details

    This position is typically scheduled to work 40 hours per week out of the Tampa FL Office. Occasional overtime and overnight travel is required. Employee may be required to work on nonscheduled workdays including weekends and holidays during declared emergencies or when the workload is such that it is required. This position is eligible for overtime for hours worked over 40 hours in a week.
