Job Summary
The Lead Radiographer will provide clinical operational and professional leadership for all radiography services within the diagnostic centre. This role combines hands-on imaging responsibilities with team leadership and quality assurance oversight ensuring that all radiography services meet the highest standards of patient care safety regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
The successful candidate will also serve as the Quality Assurance (QA) lead for radiography services ensuring consistency accuracy and adherence to best practices across all imaging procedures.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures (CT X-ray and related modalities)
- Ensure strict adherence to radiation safety protocols and ALARA principles
- Optimise image quality while minimizing patient radiation dose
- Support contrast administration where applicable
- Ensure excellent patient care positioning and communication
2. Leadership & Management
- Supervise coordinate and support all radiography staff
- Develop and manage duty rosters workflow and shift schedules
- Support recruitment onboarding and continuous staff development
- Act as a mentor and clinical role model to junior radiographers
- Escalate clinical operational or patient safety concerns to management
3. Quality Assurance Governance & Compliance
- Lead quality assurance (QA) processes across all radiography services
- Ensure full compliance with Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority regulations and standards
- Maintain radiation safety records QA logs and staff training documentation
- Develop implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and local rules
- Prepare for and support regulatory inspections and audits
- Monitor imaging quality and enforce continuous improvement standards
4. Equipment & IT Systems Management
- Oversee the safe and efficient use of CT and X-ray equipment
- Liaise with equipment vendors and service engineers for maintenance and upgrades
- Ensure optimal utilization of RIS/PACS systems for imaging workflows
- Report and escalate equipment faults or downtime promptly
Essential Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Radiography () or equivalent
- Valid registration with the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria
- Minimum of 5 7 years post-qualification experience
- Strong hands-on experience in CT and general X-ray imaging
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience
- Sound knowledge of NNRA regulations and radiation safety standards
Desirable Requirements
- Experience in a private diagnostic centre
- Experience preparing for regulatory inspections
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Immediate Life Support (ILS)
