Leidos Low Band System (LBS) Radar program is seeking a highly experienced Chief Engineer to lead the technical execution of the LBS-VHF system. This is a large multi-phase radar program with concurrent development test production and sustainment activities. You will serve as the technical authority across multiple engineering disciplines ensuring design integrity technical performance and disciplined engineering execution. This role requires a systems-minded leader with the ability to direct technical work based on cost schedule risk and requirements. This is not your average engineering position. You will work on a team of the most talented engineers in the region who push you to be better every day. THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)

  • Lead technical team to design manufacture and deliver a radar system that conforms to requirements.

  • Be comfortable navigating software signal processing mechanical and electrical engineering issues while supported by subject matter experts on your team.

  • Provide technical oversight and management of technical baseline

  • Balance technical solution while adhering to cost and schedule constraints

  • Serve as the programs technical lead for engineering execution system performance and compliance with requirements across multiple product lifecycle stages.

  • Serve as chair of risk review boards and engineering review boards

  • Communicate technical progress challenges and opportunities to senior leadership and government stakeholders.

  • Provide technical direction and oversight to subsystem leads integrated product team leads and specialty engineering disciplines to ensure design maturity integration and risk mitigation.

  • Mentor and develop technical staff fostering a culture of innovation rigor and collaboration across the engineering organization.

WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic qualifications)

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Electrical Systems or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited university.

  • BS 12 years of progressive engineering experience or 10 years experience with MS degree.

  • 5 years leading multiple discipline teams larger than 10 individuals

  • Experience in a chief engineer role on large DoD or aerospace program.

  • Demonstrated success leading complex multi-disciplinary engineering teams supporting concurrent development integration test and production.

  • Excellent technical judgment and ability to communicate complex issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience with formal design review processes (PDR/CDR) configuration management and risk management practices.

  • Basic understanding of Radar Systems and signal processing

  • Active DoD security clearance (or ability to obtain).

  • You must be a resident of the Huntsville AL area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville AL area

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with radar EO/IR or other advanced sensing technologies.

Pay Range $131300.00 - $237350.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job education experience knowledge skills and abilities as well as internal equity alignment with market data applicable bargaining agreement (if any) or other law.
