Department of Human Communication Studies Graduate Assistant Pool |
POSITION | The Department of Human Communication Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for the position of Graduate Assistants. Well qualified graduate students are assigned Graduate Assistant duties up to 10-15 hours per week and are assigned to work under the direct supervision of a faculty member in a course taught by the faculty member including but not limited to courses in: - Public Speaking
- Introduction to Communication Studies
- Essentials of Argumentation
- Forensics (speech and debate)
This is a pool of graduate assistants for the department to draw on as necessary.
APPOINTMENTS REQUIRE ADMISSION AND GOOD STANDING IN THE HUMAN COMMUNICATION STUDIES GRADUATE PROGRAM. ASSIGNMENTS ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED COURSE ASSIGNMENTS ON VERY SHORT NOTICE. |
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS | - Candidates must be currently enrolled in the graduate program in the Human Communication Studies Department.
- Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students including first-generation college students.
- Coursework or prior teaching experience in the particular course topic.
- Knowledge of the subject matter of the discipline in which assigned.
- For the initial appointment evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work.
- For subsequent appointment evidence of satisfactory progress toward completion of the degree.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS | - Preference will be given to those with significant experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative supportive and inclusive environment.

COMPENSATION | All Graduate Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Worker. Initial appointments are for one semester. Classification Range: $3245 to $4380 per month Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications not to exceed $3800
The full-time monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the time base assigned. |
