Posting Summary
The Catamount Community Service Officer or CCSO position is an unarmed civilian employee who supports public safety operations while assigned to the University of Vermont Police Services Department. This position is responsible for performing a variety of non-law enforcement duties. However they are vitally important to the overall public safety apparatus available to the University of Vermont community members to maintain and expand relationships among its students staff and partners. Ensure the safety of the campus community police personnel and the public by promptly and appropriately responding to calls for service. Prioritize calls gather and relay information remain aware of changing situations communicate pertinent information effectively notify additional resources as necessary utilizing understanding of procedures and policies. Determine priorities among simultaneous requests and messages. Actively engage in learning and practicing principles of social justice and inclusion environmental sustainability and delivering great customer experience. Reports to the Deputy Chief
Desirable Qualifications
Previous policing or community service experience and demonstrated ability to maintain composure and make appropriate decisions when reacting to a variety of situations which may endanger the safety of persons or property.
