SUMMARY
Extended Day Activity Instructors play a vital role in delivering engaging high-quality after-school programming for children and teens across New York Edge program this role you will lead or co-lead activities in areas such as STEM visual and performing arts literacy student leadership sports health and wellness business and entrepreneurship media arts journalism urban agriculture and more.
This position offers a unique opportunity to both teach and inspiresupporting curriculum development while creating meaningful hands-on learning experiences. Activity Instructors collaborate closely with the Curriculum & Instruction team and Program Directors to ensure smooth daily operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Build positive relationships with students
- Lead or co-lead daily activities
- Develop and communicate learning objectives
- Prepare materials for activities
- Adapt teaching methods to student needs
- Support program events
- Participate in professional development
- Track student progress and reporting
- Administer assessments
QUALITIES WERE LOOKING FOR
- Experience working with children and teens
- Creativity and enthusiasm
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Ability to multitask
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years old
- College credits preferred
- Experience with youth preferred
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- May be required to walk up and down stairs.
- May have to lift or move objects/materials as needed.
- Work is performed mostly within a New York City Public School but may be required to interact with community at-large during trips or events.
Specialists will be required to report to the school building and interact with staff students parentsand school administration.
At the time of offer and acceptance the job requires safety and security clearances through the Department of Education and the Department of Health.
