Homeschool Private Instructor

Sophos Speech and Academics is seeking a Homeschool Private Instructor to provide individualized academic instruction for students in kindergarten through 8th grade across core subject areas including reading writing math and general academic support. Services are delivered in person in student homes or agreed learning locations.

This is an independent contractor position. Contractors may accept or decline student assignments based on availability and area of expertise. Assignments depend on family demand and scheduling compatibility. Hours are not guaranteed.

Service Window
Instruction for homeschool students occurs during school hours generally between 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Compensation
$30 to $35 per instructional hour depending on experience and services provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide one to one academic instruction across K8 subjects

• Deliver general instruction aligned to parent selected curriculum or learning goals

• Support organization study skills and independent learning habits

• Adjust instruction to student pace and learning style

• Communicate relevant session information to Sophos administration

• Maintain timely and accurate session documentation

• Travel to assigned student home or agreed instruction location

• Maintain professional communication with families

• Multi subject instruction across elementary and middle school levels

• Executive function and study skills

• Literacy and written language support

• Foundational math instruction

• Experience working with homeschool students

Qualifications

• Experience teaching or instructing K8 students

• Ability to independently support multiple academic subjects

• Reliable transportation

• Possession of a valid Arizona IVP Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to obtain one prior to providing services

• Professional dependable and comfortable working in a home learning environment

Work Relationship

• Independent contractor 1099 classification

• Contractors choose which students to accept

• Schedule varies based on family need
