Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies**

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this positionexists is to perform skilled work in the installation and/or removal of communicationsaudio visual electronic equipment and various other vehicular componentsrelated to Law Enforcement for the Montgomery County Sheriffs Office vehiclefleet. Components include but are notlimited to radio communication equipment Automatic Vehicle Locater (AVL) equipmentin-car video and audio recording devices computer network interfacing for in-carcomputer systems vehicular light bars and emergency lighting devices brushguards partitions and gun-racks along with the electronic control featureinstallation for each and other equipment as designated by the Sheriff. Incumbents mayalso install electronic equipment for other County Departments and publicsafety entities at the direction of the Sheriff. Primary work responsibilities may include: assemblinginstalling servicing and repairing stationary and mobile equipment; testingequipment; performing preventative maintenance; driving to off-site locationsto address malfunctions; and completing miscellaneous duties. Work is performedwith considerable independence in judgement and action. This classification reports to the SupportServices Supervisor who provides general supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diplomaor GED and six (6) months of experience in the assembly installationdiagnosis and/or service of communications sound vehicular and emergencylighting law enforcement/safety and/or navigation equipment in vehicles. Applicable education (technical training inelectronics auto mechanics or related field) may be substituted for experienceon a month-to-month ratio.

NOTE: Qualifying educationtraining and experience that provide the requisite knowledge skills andabilities to perform the job will be considered.


Special Requirements

Must have and maintain a valid AlabamaDrivers License and insurable driving record. Must submit to criminal backgroundcheck. May be required to work nightsweekends and holidays for emergencies and special events.
