Artisan Fitter
Job Purpose:
Our client is seeking a skilled Artisan Fitter to maintain and repair all mechanical installations within the Refinery Business Unit supporting daily mechanical operations as well as planned maintenance activities.
- Knowledge of plant fitting and machinery repairs.
- Compliance knowledge of plant standards and regulations.
- Tool knowledge to determine the most appropriate tools for specific jobs.
- Understanding of planned and emergency maintenance to effectively resolve repairs and maintenance problems.
- SHEQ knowledge ability to understand and apply relevant Safety Health Environment and Quality practices and procedures.
- Execute planned maintenance within the specified timeframe and to a high standard providing feedback to the relevant foreman to improve plant availability and reliability.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns during the shift as required.
- Manage all assigned maintenance work orders timeously to ensure weekly and monthly KPI targets are met.
- Support cost-reduction initiatives by reducing waste and improving operational efficiencies.
- Complete SAP PM work orders accurately and on time ensuring proper feedback and documentation.
- Participate in risk assessments related to internal and external factors and assist in incident investigations when required.
- Report all incidents promptly to the supervisor and/or through the relevant reporting systems.
- Participate in inspections and audits as required.
- Ensure compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety requirements statutory regulations and PPE standards applicable to the work area.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping at all times.
- Work rotational shifts with other Fitter artisans as required to support coverage within the Refinery business unit.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum N3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering with a recognised Trade Test Certificate as a Fitter.
- At least 2 years post-apprenticeship experience.
- A tertiary qualification and/or a second Trade Test (Millwright) will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 2 years working experience within a refinery or smelter environment.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word Email) and SAP.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to execute technical tasks timeously and accurately.
- Good planning and organising skills.
- Ability to identify and rectify machinery faults through effective problem-solving.
