Chief Operating Officer

JobMatchingPartner is assisting an MFSA-licensed bank based in Malta to find a Chief Operating Officer to join their team.

As a COO you will provide strategic leadership and oversight across all core operational functions ensuring efficient compliant and customer-focused service delivery.

The role is office-based with a salary of up to 110K an benefits package.

Role & Responsibilities

• Lead the banks overall operational function ensuring effective and consistent delivery across all areas

• Ensure full compliance with MFSA requirements and applicable EU banking regulations across operations

• Support the banks digitalisation agenda by introducing and embedding modern technologies automation and digital solutions

• Develop and maintain operational plans that support the organisations strategic objectives

• Promote a culture of continuous improvement regularly reviewing and enhancing processes and workflows

• Work closely with the CEO and senior leadership team on the execution of business priorities

• Oversee operational risk management ensuring appropriate controls and business continuity measures are in place

• Encourage effective collaboration between teams to support smooth day-to-day operations

• Monitor operational performance through KPIs reporting and analysis to support decision-making

• Lead and support organisational change initiatives ensuring smooth adoption of new systems and processes

Education Skills & Experience

• Proven senior leadership experience within banking or financial services operations in Malta

• Strong understanding of MFSA requirements and EU regulatory frameworks

• Excellent communication skills in English both written and verbal

• Experience in digital transformation or operational improvement initiatives

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

• Analytical mindset with the ability to improve operational performance

• Experience managing complex regulated environments

• Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities with the capacity to work across teams
