Payroll Assistant
Location: New York NY (Onsite)
Duration: 5 Weeks
Schedule:(35 hours/week) 08:00 AM 04:00 PM flexible schedule with rotating early/late Fridays
Position Overview
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to support end-to-end payroll operations in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The role involves processing payroll for hourly and salaried employees ensuring compliance with payroll regulations and maintaining high standards of accuracy and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees accurately and on schedule
- Calculate wages overtime bonuses deductions taxes garnishments and benefits (including 401k)
- Assist with wage garnishments and payroll-related transfers and reporting
- Maintain and update employee payroll records within HRIS/payroll systems
- Reconcile payroll data and support audits year-end reporting and tax filings (e.g. W-2s)
- Ensure compliance with federal state and local payroll regulations
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries professionally
- Support leadership and accounting teams with related financial and administrative tasks
- Conduct audits to ensure accuracy and maintain data integrity across systems
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required (Bachelors degree preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of payroll processing experience
- Strong knowledge of payroll operations including garnishments taxes and year-end processing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word Outlook) intermediate to advanced level
- Experience with payroll/HR systems (Oracle Cloud PeopleSoft ADP preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills especially in retro pay calculations
- High attention to detail with strong data accuracy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information
- Strong communication skills for interaction with HR finance and employees
Preferred Certifications
- FPC or CPP certification preferred
