Job Summary
Utility Labourer
Through funding provided by the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program Sturgeon County is hiring atemporary full-time (up to 12weeks - approximately May 11to August 28) UWMS Labourer II. This position assists with department labour responsibilities for operational needs of the municipal water and wastewater and stormwater systems.
Work is performed within the County and exposed to outdoor elements various weather conditions and terrain.
This position may require heavy lifting of up to 50 pounds (24 kilograms) along with frequent squatting bending twisting and climbing.
This is a safety sensitive position.
As a CSJ positionmust meet the following criteria:
Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of employment. Candidate must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment candidate may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment periodas long as the candidate was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
Be a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person to whom refugeeprotection has been conferred under the Immigration and RefugeeProtection Act for the duration of the employment.
Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and belegally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial orterritorial legislation and regulations.
**International students are not eligible participants.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
KNOWLEDGE EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
- Highschool diploma equivalent or working towards.
- Must work safely effectively and efficiently with others and alone with little or no supervision.
- Punctual communicate openly takes direction well.
- Responds to public inquiries in a calm and friendly manner.
Assets:
- Class 5 Drivers License.
- A post-secondary Water and Wastewater Technician Certificate or equivalent or working towards.
- Experience in municipal water/wastewater.
