The UW Medicine Eastside Specialty Center Center Otolaryngology Department has an outstanding opportunity for an Audiologist Specialist 3 (Speech Pathologist/Audiologist Specialist 3).

WORK SCHEDULE

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

UW Medicine Eastside Specialty Center provides outpatient specialty care in Bellevue. The Otolaryngology clinic includes Audiology services in a collaborative specialty environment designed to improve access and support coordinated care on the Eastside.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with otolaryngology providers and clinical staff while helping grow high-quality audiology services in a patient-centered ambulatory setting.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • This full-time position is intended for an experienced audiologist who will provide advanced outpatient audiologic care in a medically integrated specialty setting.

  • Independently manage a complex outpatient audiology caseload within a busy Otolaryngology practice.

  • Provide comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative audiologic care in a medically integrated specialty setting.

  • Evaluate patients for conventional hearing aids and bone anchored hearing devices.

  • Serve as a senior clinical resource through program development workflow improvement education and quality improvement activities.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide comprehensive audiologic evaluation treatment planning counseling and rehabilitative services for patients with routine moderate and complex hearing-related conditions.

  • Independently manage a complex patient caseload including diagnostic audiometry immittance testing otoacoustic emissions hearing aid evaluations hearing aid fittings verification follow-up care troubleshooting and patient education.

  • Evaluate patients for conventional amplification and bone anchored hearing devices and provide fitting programming verification counseling and follow-up care as appropriate.

  • Collaborate closely with otolaryngology physicians advanced practice providers and interdisciplinary staff to support coordinated care for patients with medical and surgical otologic conditions.

  • Serve as a lead clinical resource within the audiology program including mentoring students and newer staff assisting with orientation and competency development and supporting clinical education as delegated.

  • Participate in program development workflow optimization process improvement and quality improvement initiatives to enhance access patient experience safety and clinical effectiveness.

  • Assist with clinical operations related to audiology services including equipment oversight documentation standards and communication regarding patient care needs and program priorities.

  • Provide instruction and in-service education to departmental staff regarding audiology services hearing rehabilitation and related patient care issues.

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensed by the State of Washington as an Audiologist.

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

  • Four years of experience as a speech pathologist audiologist or equivalent education/experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex audiology patients in an outpatient or medically integrated clinical setting.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in evaluation for and fitting of conventional hearing aids and bone anchored hearing devices.

  • Excellent interpersonal organizational teaching and written/verbal communication skills.

  • Experience practicing in an otolaryngology otology or other medically based specialty clinic.

  • Experience serving as a lead clinician mentoring learners or staff or participating in program development and quality improvement work.

  • Experience in a high-volume outpatient specialty setting.
