Job Summary

A leading company in the FMCG industry is searching for a motivated and detail-oriented Loss Control Officer to join thier team in Bulawayo.

Key Responsibilities:
Security and Loss Control Planning
  • Researching and analysing historical Security trends and patterns with regard to prior year incidences.
  • Checking and analysing crime statistics reports to identify high risk areas and make recommendations.
  • Analysing the business growth (electronic security systems regulatory changes customer and risk and compliance requirements).
  • Identifying Security and Loss Control service providers (such as Security firms) annually.
  • Planning the installation of electronic security systems across the sites.
  • Developing the Security and Loss Control Training Calendar for the Business Units.
  • Developing and updating the Security and Loss Control standards for the Business Units and submits to the Commercial Executive.
  • Security and Loss Control Budgets: Develops the Security and Loss Control Budget and submits to the Commercial Executive for approval and monitors monthly.
Security and Administration
  • Develops reviews and enforces SLAs for security services across the Business Units.
  • Manages the contracted security guards and evaluates their performance at all deployments.
  • Conducts visits across business units for risk assessment and recommends security improvements.
  • Conducts risk analysis and recommends preventative measures to operational units/departments.
  • Ensures crime prevention systems are in place by designing suitable systems.
  • Authorises gates passes for the movement of Company and personal property in and out of the premises.
  • Manages security electronic system by way of daily checks reporting breakdowns to services providers receipt of repair/supply quotations raises order requisitions receipt of invoices and raising GRVs.
  • Plans and designs the layout and placement of CCTV camera systems across the business units.
  • Controls all documentation relevant to the effective operation of control room activities i.e. access control CCTV fire alarms electric fence and biometric system.
Security and Loss Control Investigations
  • Investigates all security and loss control breaches and theft cases and hands over to the police upon approval by the Commercial Executive.
  • Reviews and analyses reports referred by the external security officers and makes sure investigations are properly conducted before submitting reports to management.
  • Analyses and process information received from various sources
  • Ensures that all witnesses and suspects are interviewed and are available when required by the Law Enforcement agents.
  • Liaises with Law Enforcement Agencies e.g. ZRP CID-Commercial Crime Division Public Prosecutors with regards to criminal matters involving the company property.
  • Provides evidence in Courts of Law representing the company.
  • Follows up with the police or courts on the progress of cases reported and ensures closure.
  • Compiles Loss Control Quarterly Reports showing recovered items values outstanding cases and crime statistics and submits to the Commercial Executive.
  • Checks that the business units firearms and Certificates (where applicable) are secure spare keys for offices are kept under lock and key.
  • Chairs meetings with external security organisations and security service providers monthly.
  • Facilitates background checks for employees and service providers in liaison with Human Resources Department.
Security and Loss Control Awareness
  • Develops security and fraud awareness programs in line with the Loss Control Policy of the company and liaises with Operations Executive and Human Resources Business Partner.
  • Conducts training for staff in line with security and fraud awareness programs in conjunction with the Human Resources Business Partner.
  • Participates in the induction of new employees.
  • Disseminates security and loss control tips and alerts across the company upon approval by the Operations Executive.
  • Prepares and maintains the training register for all the Security and Fraud Awareness courses and staff attendances.
  • Evaluates and validates the training and submits to the Operations Executive.
Loss Control Insurance and Administration
  • Compiles insurance claim documents and submits the claim to the insurer.
  • Follows up and attends insurance claim meetings with the insurer.
  • Attends and resolves queries and issues raised by insurance assessors.
  • Prepares and submits loss control insurance reports to the Commercial Executive
Key Skills:
  • Clear verbal and written communication and ability to prepare accurate reports
  • Ability to plan and organise in line with job requirements
  • Ability to analyse and solve work related problems to achieve the correct outcomes
  • Ability to interact negotiate and achieve targets
Key Qualifications:
  • First Degree in Security Management or equivalent
  • Security Investigations experience or related environment 4 6 years a minimum range of a Police Inspector.
