Senior Electrical Design Engineer (MEP)

Minimum 10 years of substantive professional experience in electrical design for Metro Rail projects with documented evidence of technical leadership and project delivery

**Key Responsibilities**

**1. Electrical System Design**

• Lead the design of LV & MV power distribution systems with full accountability for technical accuracy and regulatory compliance
• Design transformers switchgear MCCs and panel boards in accordance with international standards and project specifications
• Conduct comprehensive electrical load calculations and demand analysis to ensure system adequacy
• Execute short circuit voltage drop and protection coordination studies to guarantee system integrity and safety
• Specify and oversee UPS systems generators and backup power solutions to ensure operational continuity
• Design earthing and lightning protection systems in compliance with applicable codes and standards

**2. Lighting & Small Power Systems**

• Direct the design of interior and exterior lighting systems including precise lux level calculations and compliance verification
• Develop emergency lighting systems that meet all regulatory requirements and operational standards
• Establish small power layouts and socket distribution in accordance with project demands and safety protocols
• Implement energy-efficient lighting solutions including LED and smart control technologies to optimise operational performance

**3. Technical Documentation**

• Prepare and certify critical technical deliverables including:
• Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
• Load schedules
• Panel schedules
• Cable sizing calculations
• Bill of Quantities (BOQ)
• Comprehensive technical specifications
• Conduct rigorous review of shop drawings and material submittals to ensure compliance with design intent and standards

**4. Coordination & Project Management**

• Coordinate with Mechanical Plumbing Civil and Architectural teams to ensure integrated design delivery and conflict resolution
• Represent the electrical discipline in client and consultant meetings providing authoritative technical guidance
• Ensure strict compliance with local and international codes (IEC NEC NFPA BS and local authority regulations)
• Provide technical oversight during construction and conduct site inspections to verify compliance with design specifications

**5. Leadership & Technical Oversight**

• Direct and mentor junior engineers and draftsmen establishing standards for technical excellence
• Conduct comprehensive review of all design outputs to ensure accuracy quality and regulatory compliance
• Maintain accountability for project delivery within established timelines and budgetary constraints
• Assume responsibility for the technical integrity and professional standards of all deliverables

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E./.) or Masters degree (.) from a recognised institution
• Minimum 10 years of substantive professional experience in electrical design for Metro Rail projects with documented evidence of technical leadership and project delivery
• Advanced proficiency in electrical design software including AutoCAD ETAP DIALux or equivalent industry-standard tools
• Comprehensive mastery of international electrical codes and standards (IEC NEC NFPA BS 7909 and applicable local authority regulations) with demonstrated ability to ensure strict compliance
• Established expertise in LV and MV power distribution system design encompassing transformers switchgear protection coordination and system integrity verification
• Thorough command of electrical load calculations short circuit studies voltage drop analysis and demand forecasting methodologies
• Substantive experience in the design and specification of UPS systems generators and backup power solutions for mission-critical applications

**Preferred Qualifications:**

• Professional Engineering qualification (PE/PEng) or equivalent professional registration demonstrating recognised technical standing
• Documented experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and integrated coordination platforms
• Established knowledge of energy-efficient design principles and sustainable building practices with measurable implementation outcomes
• Proven track record designing electrical systems for specialised and demanding facilities such as data centres hospitals or airports
• Demonstrated project management capabilities with evidence of successful stakeholder engagement and technical team leadership
• Substantive experience in mentoring and developing junior engineers establishing and maintaining rigorous technical standards
• Advanced familiarity with emergency lighting systems and smart lighting control technologies including system integration and optimisation
