Job Description Summary
The Fowler School of Law offers a unique and nationally-recognized bar preparation program to complement traditional doctrinal law school coursework with the goal of fully and adequately preparing students for the California (and out-of-state) bar examination. The course is offered twice a year to coincide with test dates. The Summer Bar Prep Grader assists the Assistant Dean of Academic Achievement and Assistant Director of Academic Achievement with the evaluation of essays and/or performance tests. This is a part-time temporary assignment scheduled to work up to 10 hours per week with an anticipated end date of July 24 2026.
Responsibilities
Read and comment on substance and structure of essays and/or performance tests submitted by students. Track student progress according to tracking systems set up by Academic Achievement. Notify program administrators of significant substandard performance to facilitate interventions. Full-time graders will grade six (6) essays or three (3) performance tests Part-time graders will grade three (3) to four (4) essays Back-up graders will be on-call to fill in as necessary and will have the same responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
Licensed attorney who has previously assisted with the Bar Prep Program or has taught as a Part-Time Lecturer in the Fowler School of Law. Juris Doctor degree. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to work independently and as a team.
