*Role Objective*
The objective of the SAP Basis Administrator role is to ensure the security stability and
reliability of SAP NetWeaver Java systems by leading all patching hardening and vulnerability
remediation activities. This role is accountable for maintaining uptodate and compliant SAP
Enterprise Portal XI/PI/PO and associated database environments through proactive patch
management timely application of SAP Security Notes and continuous risk mitigation. The
administrator will safeguard system integrity and performance by executing structured
maintenance cycles monitoring for emerging threats and implementing bestpractice security
measures across all Javabased SAP landscapes.

*Key Responsibilities*
Perform regular Support Package Stack (SPS) patching and updates of SAP NetWeaver
Java systems including SAP Enterprise Portal and SAP PI/PO.
Apply SAP Security Notes and Java stack patches to address identified vulnerabilities and
ensure system compliance.
Conduct kernel and software component updates as part of planned maintenance cycles.
Assess SAP Java system vulnerabilities prioritize remediation actions and implement
corrective measures.
Monitor system health logs and performance metrics to identify risks early and prevent
security breaches.
Manage patching and maintenance of underlying SAP databases linked to SAP
applications.
Coordinate downtime planning communication and execution for patch activities across
the SAP landscape.
Maintain documentation for patching procedures vulnerability remediation activities and
system configurations.
Lead endtoend technical efforts for security hardening and lifecycle management of SAP
Java systems.
Work closely with Information Security team SAP functional teams developers and
business analysts to ensure seamless SAP operations.

*Educational Qualification*
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering / computer science or equivalent.
• SAP Certification relevant to the role such as:
o SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP NetWeaver Java
o SAP Certified Technology Associate – System Administration (SAP Basis)
o SAP Certified Technology Specialist – PI/PO Administration
• Database certifications (highly desirable) such as Oracle SAP HANA or MS SQL
administration.
• Cybersecurity certifications supporting vulnerability management and patch
governance (optional but valuable):
o CompTIA Security
o CISSP CISM or equivalent
o CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) for system hardening awareness
• Strong foundational knowledge in operating systems (Linux/UNIX/Windows Server)
either through hands on experience coursework or certifications (e.g. RHCSA
RHCE).

*Professional Experience*
• 5 years of professional working experience of which a minimum of 3 years hands-on
SAP implementation / support experience as SAP Basis consultant with focus on SAP
NetWeaver Java systems incl. Enterprise Portal & PI/PO.
• Proven experience managing SAP Enterprise Portal SAP XI/PI/PO and other
Java-based SAP components in complex multi-system environments.
• Extensive background in SAP Java Stack patching including Support Package Stacks
(SPS) patch level updates kernel updates and software component deployments.
• Practical experience with system hardening security configuration and remediation
of Java-based SAP system risks.
• Strong skills in monitoring system performance analyzing logs and proactively
detecting and addressing stability or security issues.
• Experience administering and patching underlying SAP databases (SAP ASE /
Sybase Hana.) that support Java-based SAP applications.
• Solid background in Linux/Unix and Windows Server environments including
system administration relevant to SAP platforms.
• Proven ability to plan coordinate and execute maintenance cycles including
downtime management and communication with stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting Java stack errors deployment failures and
post-patch inconsistencies in distributed SAP landscapes.
• Experience maintaining technical documentation system architecture details patch
plans and remediation reports.
• Previous involvement in large-scale upgrade migration or security remediation
projects especially related to Java-based SAP systems.
• Experience in the Oil & Gas sector is preferred.
• Must be fluent in written and spoken English.

*Technical Skills*
• Strong expertise in SAP NetWeaver Java system administration (Config Tool NWA
JSPM).
• Hands on experience with SAP Enterprise Portal SAP XI/PI/PO and other Java
based components.
• Proficiency in deploying Java patches Support Package Stacks (SPS) kernel
updates and SCAs/SDAs.
• Experience using tools like SUM (Software Update Manager) for Java stack updates.
• Experience with system hardening for SAP Java environments following SAP and
cybersecurity best practices.
• Familiarity with SAP EarlyWatch Alerts security scanners and compliance
assessment tools.
• Experience administering and patching databases supporting SAP Java systems.
• Strong background in Linux/UNIX and Windows Server used for SAP landscapes.
• Understanding of OS level patching resource management and security
configuration.
• Familiarity with virtualization (VMware) load balancing and high availability setups.
• Ability to analyze thread dumps logs and heap memory to troubleshoot performance
issues.
• Knowledge of BRTOOLS HANA Studio or similar tools for backup and recovery.
• Experience with system copies refreshes and environment synchronization.
• Understanding of HTTPS/SSL SSO configuration SAP Web Dispatcher and
certificates.
• Familiarity with Web Application Firewalls (WAF) load balancers reverse proxies and
network security for SAP Java applications.
• Ability to troubleshoot J2EE engine failures deployment issues and connectivity
problems.
