Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician
Location: New York NY 10011
Duration: 8 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift (08:00 AM 04:00 PM)
Position Overview
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to support physicians in delivering high-quality eye care services. This role involves performing comprehensive preliminary eye examinations assisting with diagnostic and minor procedural tasks maintaining ophthalmic equipment and ensuring efficient patient flow within a fast-paced clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preliminary ophthalmic examinations including:
- Visual field testing (central and peripheral)
- Ocular motility and color vision assessments
- Tonometry tonography and intraocular pressure measurements
- Pharmacological pupil testing and pupil assessments prior to dilation
- Obtain and accurately document patient medical and personal history
- Manage patient flow to ensure smooth clinic operations
- Coordinate and schedule:
- Laboratory tests
- Ophthalmic imaging and diagnostic procedures
- Outpatient services and hospital admissions
- Educate patients and families on diagnostic procedures and care plans
- Operate calibrate and maintain ophthalmic equipment such as slit lamps keratometers lensometers and tonometers
- Prepare and sterilize instruments for examinations and procedures
- Assist physicians with minor office procedures laser treatments and surgical support (as needed)
- Maintain cleanliness organization and inventory of exam rooms and clinical areas
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Ophthalmic Technician Certification required
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmic procedures diagnostics and equipment
- Excellent communication and patient care skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
