ANNOUNCEMENT OF SUMMER SCHOOL POSITION

TITLE: Middle School Paraprofessional (SPS employees only) for Extended Instruction Summer 2026; number contingent upon enrollment

REPORTS TO: Building Principal or Designee

FUNDING: Various Funding Sources (pending)

SALARY: Hourly Rate

WORK SCHEDULE:

Program Schedule: Monday July 6th - Thursday July 30th from 8:00am-1:45pm

Work Schedule: Monday July 6th - Thursday July 30th from 7:30am.-2:00pm

DUTIES:

  1. Assist students in developing and mastering fundamental skills in reading writing science and mathematics.
  2. Provide one-on-one or small-group support to reinforce key concepts.
  3. Encourage student engagement and participation in instructional activities.
  4. Support attendance tracking by recording student participation and engagement.
  5. Assist in monitoring student behavior and implementing classroom expectations.
  6. Communicate observations with teachers to ensure student success.
  7. Supervise students during breakfast and lunch periods to ensure a structured and safe environment.
  8. Provide assistance during transitions between activities and maintain positive student interactions.
  9. Follow all school safety procedures and behavioral expectations.
  10. Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all students.
  11. Support teachers and program staff with classroom materials and activities.
  12. Assist in technology use for instructional purposes.
  13. Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Presently employed as a paraprofessional for Springfield Public Schools
  2. Relates well to students parents and other teachers/staff members.
  3. Understands the interests and needs of Springfield Public Schools most at-risk students.
  4. Computer/Internet aptitude.
  5. Bilingual applicants encouraged to apply.
  6. Secured position for school year 2026-2027.
