Advertising Summary:The Student Transition Coordinator centers the work of incoming NMSU students from an approach grounded in diversity equity and inclusion. The Student Transition Coordinator manages the many day-to-day aspects Aggie Welcome & Orientation student programming and response to incoming student needs. This individual develops coordinates implements and assesses large and small scale programs for NMSU incoming students independently and/or in collaboration with multiple campus partners such as Undergraduate Admissions Student Involvement & Leadership Programs Housing & Residential Life Athletics and a variety of other student service offices. This position has the decision-making authority for hiring training and supervision of the program summer graduate intern and co-authority with the Family Engagement Coordinator for hiring training and supervision for the student Ambassadors and Orientation Leaders.
Salary starts at $45000 but will be commensurate with experience/education. Professional Development funding is provided every year.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: The Aggie Welcome & Orientation Coordinator centers the work of incoming NMSU students from an approach grounded in diversity equity and inclusion. The AWO Coordinator manages the many day-to-day aspects Aggie Welcome & Orientation programming and response to incoming student needs. This individual develops coordinates implements and assesses large and small scale programs for NMSU incoming students independently and/or in collaboration with multiple campus partners such as Undergraduate Admissions & Orientation Student Involvement & Leadership Programs Housing & Residential Life Athletics and a variety of other student service offices. This position has the decision-making authority for hiring training and supervision of the program summer graduate intern and co-authority with the Family Outreach Programs Senior Coordinator for hiring training and supervision for the Student Coordinators and Orientation Leaders.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Associates Degree 4 years of relevant experience or a Bachelors degree 2 years of relevant experience.
Equivalent Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Student Affairs Higher Education Counseling or equivalent
- Previous experience working with college students family members and supporters
- Ability to obtain a university driving permit (based on having valid US driving license)
Special Certification/Licensure:
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Environment: Work is normally performed indoors.
Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.
Risk: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
