Head of Finance

Job Description

Our client a well-established and diversified industrial group is seeking an accomplished Head of Finance to lead the finance function across multiple business entities. This is a critical leadership appointment for a commercially astute and technically strong finance professional who can operate confidently at both strategic and operational level.

The successful candidate will take ownership of financial performance governance reporting treasury tax systems improvement and team leadership within a complex operational environment. This role offers strong executive exposure and the opportunity to influence decision-making across the wider group.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full finance function across multiple group entities ensuring strong financial control reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
• Deliver monthly quarterly and annual financial reporting including executive commentary analysis and performance insights.
• Drive budgeting forecasting business planning and working capital management.
• Oversee treasury activities cash flow management foreign exchange exposure and hedging strategies in line with policy.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS tax legislation statutory obligations and internal governance standards across relevant jurisdictions.
• Lead all external audit processes and maintain strong relationships with auditors and advisors.
• Provide commercial finance leadership to support pricing margin improvement cost optimisation and strategic decision-making.
• Strengthen internal controls policies and risk management frameworks across the group.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives finance automation and ERP optimisation projects.
• Manage mentor and develop a high-performing finance team including experienced managers.
• Partner with executive leadership operational stakeholders customers and suppliers on key commercial matters.
• Support strategic projects and broader business initiatives as required.

Requirements

• Qualified Chartered Accountant or recognised professional finance qualification. Candidates holding CA(SA) or membership with a recognised professional body such as SAICA SAIPA or CIMA are highly preferred.
• Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role such as Head of Finance Financial Director Finance Executive Senior Financial Manager or similar.
• Strong experience within a manufacturing environment is essential. Exposure to industrial engineering mining-related or operational businesses will be advantageous.
• Mandatory experience working on Syspro ERP within an integrated business environment.
• Strong track record in financial reporting budgeting forecasting treasury management and audit leadership.
• Demonstrated experience leading multi-functional finance teams and managing senior direct reports.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence executive stakeholders and support business growth.
• Experience driving process improvement finance automation and systems enhancement initiatives.
• Excellent leadership communication stakeholder management and decision-making capability.
• High levels of professionalism integrity confidentiality and executive presence.
• Based in Gauteng or able to commute to Kempton Park.
