Job Summary

In meeting this mission Attorney General Kathy Jennings is supported by teams of talented lawyers and staff in the Criminal Civil Family Fraud and Consumer Protection and Civil Rights and Public Trust Divisions. Each of the more than 500 staff who work in the Office of the Attorney General are dedicated to serving all Delawareans with integrity and passion.
Deputy Attorneys General with critical support from criminal special investigators victim service specialists paraprofessionals and administrative staff prosecute criminal cases enforce consumer laws provide counsel to state agencies ensure the publics access to open government protect the abused and much more.
Summary Statement
The Delaware Department of Justice Family Division is seeking a Deputy Attorney General to serve as Unit Head of the statewide Criminal & Delinquency Unit. This is an exciting leadership opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative team committed to meaningful work.
This position may be based in New Castle Kent or Sussex County.
The Unit Head is responsible for both managerial and prosecutorial functions and works closely with the Assistant Unit Heads. This position carries an active caseload while also supervising Deputy Attorneys General within the Unit coordinating assignments organizing and conducting trainings and overseeing administrative and support operations. Additional managerial responsibilities are performed as needed.
Deputy Attorneys General in this Unit prosecute juvenile delinquency cases truancy matters adult domestic violence misdemeanors and child abuse misdemeanors in Family Court and Justice of the Peace Court. Attorneys routinely handle discovery draft motions and briefs conduct legal research negotiate plea agreements and take cases to trial. This is a high-volume Unit with multiple court calendars each week.
The anticipated start date for this position is June 29 2026.
