Position Overview
The KINBRE program offers undergraduate students who have been accepted into the KINBRE scholarship program handson research experience in fields such as Molecular Biosciences Medicinal Chemistry and Engineering. Working closely with a faculty mentor KINBRE trainees collect and analyze data maintain accurate research records and present their findings at program symposia. The program emphasizes research integrity while supporting students academic and professional development in biomedical research.
The KINBRE program will provide an opportunity for undergraduate level trainees to get exposure to cutting edge research. Each trainee will be appointed a mentor conduct research in the fields of Molecular Biosciences Medicinal Chemistry Mechanical Engineering Chemistry and related fields. The students will collect and analyze data and maintain appropriate records of their research. Trainees will also present their research findings at local regional and/or national symposia.
The award recipients will be required to promote objectivity in research by establishing standards that provide a reasonable expectation that the design conduct and reporting required for NIH funded research. The KINBRE training program will support undergraduate researchers with opportunities to conduct fundamental translational or entrepreneurial research. The overall goal of the program is to provide a career pathway for students interested in a career in biomedical research.

Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
- Conduct mentored research including experimental design data collection and analysis maintenance of research records and preparation of research presentations and reports.
- Attend required meetings seminars workshops and other program-sponsored activities to enhance research skills scientific knowledge and professional development.
