Job Description:
The Quality Managerwill be responsible for leading Quality Assurance throughout the product development/manufacturing lifecycle and business excellence efforts at the site. TheSr. Managerwill be responsible for driving continual process and product improvement ensuring product and process integrity leading to customer satisfaction and overall mission success while supporting division quality delivery and cost targets. This is a hands-on highly involved leadership position with direct supervision and leadership of 10-15 quality personnel with 6 direct reports.
Essential Functions:
- Responsiblefor the Quality Engineering Mission Assurance and Inspection functions supporting all business practices includingquality planning compliance monitoring and validation for programs hardware software and inspection.
- Hands on leader with responsibility for resolving technical challenges ensuring successful tactical execution as well as creating and implementing the strategic vision for the Quality department.
- Work closely with the program teams and the functional organizations to ensure that all phases of the customer life cycle from early customerinvolvement through post-delivery support meet the requirements for mission success.
- Ensurethat manufacturing engineering operations and design engineering interactsufficiently throughout the product planning and design phases to ensure aseamless hand-off during product transition to production including design reviews and facilitating quality concurrent Engineering.
- Responsiblefor the maintenance of quality records that document the quality status ofmaterial/products and provide necessary information and cumulative data for internal and external Customer responses.
- Reviewand verify compliance of all Work Package Descriptions (WPDs) issued for Quality tasks for proposals and ongoing contracts/projects.
- Developand implement Quality plans and programs promoting sound and effective principles as set forth in company procedures government standards anddirectives and commercially-proven methodology and ensure that the department conforms to these principles.
- Manage Quality issues involving Suppliers Subcontractors Manufacturing Hardware and Software Engineering.
- Improvethe efficiency of the Quality organization through effective leadershipindividual and group training and process improvement.
- Collect and analyzekey quality measures such as Cost of Poor Quality to develop zero defect plans improve yields and reduce rework duringengineering and manufacturing efforts. Report to senior leadership on business performance including action plans to improve business execution and status of strategic initiatives.
- Leadimplementation of new processes activities and culture that enhance thecustomer experience and engage every employee across all disciplines at the site in a quality focused mindset.
- Takea lead role in building a culture that reinforces compliance withappropriate laws regulations and/or guidelines and internal command media.
- Maintaincertification and compliance efforts for AS9100/ISO9001 CMMI and other required certifications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience or equivalent; or aGraduate Degree with a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience or equivalent.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills including communications facilitation consulting coaching and influencing
- Self-motivated and possess demonstrated ability to motivate others to achieve timely results.
- Highly collaborative style capable of working acrossmultiple functional areas to drive results.
- This position requires the ability to obtain a US DoD Secret security clearance which requires US Citizenship.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- In depth knowledge of quality and reliability methods and procedures for Space hardware and software systems as they apply to the aerospace and electronics industry including electro-mechanical assembly test and space vehicle integration.
- Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification and/or proven education or work history in leading and implementing projects.
- Experience with Configuration Control management practices.
- Experience with SAP CostPoint TipQA ERP systems
- Experience with J-STD and IPC standard implementation.
- ASQ certification preferred; Experience managing AS9100 certified business.
