Job Summary
The Product Development Manager Commercial Insurance will play a key role in developing enhancing and managing MGTs commercial P&C role leads new product development manages coverage and form updates supports regulatory filings and develops underwriting guidelines. Youll work cross-functionally with underwriting claims actuarial compliance distribution and engineering to bring products from concept to market and continuously improve performance.
This is an opportunity for an experienced underwriting or product professional who combines strong technical expertise with business judgment and is comfortable operating as a senior individual contributor in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Lifecycle
Lead the design and launch of new commercial products forms and coverages
Manage the lifecycle of existing products to ensure competitiveness and profitability
Develop underwriting guidelines eligibility criteria and coverage specifications
Partner on product strategy prioritization and roadmap planning
Forms Coverage & Pricing
Draft and maintain forms endorsements and coverage language
Support pricing and rating updates with actuarial
Contribute to state filings including documentation and regulator responses
Cross-Functional Execution
Drive product initiatives from concept through implementation and post-launch monitoring
Translate product requirements for system configuration
Partner with underwriting claims and distribution to align product design with business needs
Collaborate with compliance legal actuarial and engineering to ensure accuracy and scalability
Regulatory & Market Alignment
Ensure compliance with jurisdictional requirements
Monitor legislative and industry changes impacting products
Performance & Communication
Analyze performance loss trends and competitive positioning to drive improvements
Present insights recommendations and product updates to stakeholders
Develop product documentation training materials and internal communications
Serve as a subject matter expert on coverage intent and product design
Qualifications
Experience
812 years in underwriting product development or commercial P&C coverage
Experience developing products forms or pricing approaches
Familiarity with regulatory filings and compliance processes
Strong market analysis and competitive intelligence skills
Experience influencing product strategy or portfolio performance is a plus
Education
Bachelors degree in Business Risk Management Finance or related field
CPCU ARM AU or similar designations are a plus
Skills & Capabilities
Strong commercial P&C underwriting and coverage knowledge
Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Clear communication and ability to influence across teams
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Proficiency in MS Office; Tableau or Power BI experience is a plus
Compensation & Benefits
The base salary range for this role is $160000 $205000 depending on experience skills and location. This role may also be eligible for a performance bonus and equity.
