As an Ethernet Systems Engineer supporting avionics modifications you will perform tasks across the full lifecycle-design development testing fielding and sustainment-of weapon systems. You will serve as a technical lead for high-performance Ethernet environments ensuring that aircraft network architectures are scalable compliant with airworthiness standards and optimized for high-throughput data.
Key Responsibilities
- System Design & Compliance: Generate product specifications and functional diagrams. Conduct airworthiness assignments to obtain compliance artifacts and provide risk assessments when compliance is not achievable.
- Network Engineering: Establish and implement an overarching Ethernet design and maintenance philosophy. Manage high-throughput network environments (at or near 10 Gb/sec) based on IEEE 802.3 standards.
- Testing & Analysis: Perform physical layer validation and packet-level performance analysis. Identify and mitigate packet loss collisions and network degradation.
- Documentation & Briefings: Develop requirements documentation white papers and design review data. Clearly communicate test strategies and performance findings to stakeholders through briefings and reports.
- Continuous Improvement: Develop or enhance custom network test tools and translate test data into actionable network improvements.
Basic Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience: 5 years of hands-on experience in systems engineering.
- Technical Proficiency: Proven experience with high-speed Ethernet networking including design implementation and troubleshooting in high-performance environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Degree: Masters Degree in Engineering.
- Specialized Expertise: 8 years of experience specifically with F-16 avionics systems.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Strong understanding of IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standards including physical layer considerations and protocol behavior.
Required Experience:
