About this position:
Lake Michigan Credit Union is seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven Wire Transfer Specialist to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate and secure processing of domestic and international wire transfers while delivering an exceptional member experience.
The ideal candidate is highly analytical thrives in a fast-paced environment and maintains a strong focus on accuracy compliance and fraud prevention.
What youll do:
- Process incoming and outgoing wire transfers in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all outgoing wires meet Federal Reserve Bank (FRB) standards and comply with OFAC and BSA policies.
- Review wire requests for accuracy completeness and proper authorization prior to processing.
- Assist members with general wire transfer inquiries providing clear guidance and support.
- Obtain wire agreements and establish/maintain recurring wire templates.
- Research and verify foreign wire instructions to ensure timely and accurate delivery of funds.
- Ensure compliance with CFPB remittance transfer rules for international wires.
- Collaborate with members and internal staff to ensure complete and accurate wire instructions.
- Assist members with tracing wire transfers and resolving issues as needed.
- Review incoming wires for accuracy ensuring funds are applied to the correct account and that the beneficiary matches account ownership.
- Monitor transactions for potential fraud and take appropriate action including initiating wire service messages to gather additional information when needed.
- Accept and process outgoing wire requests via telephone in accordance with internal policies and security procedures.
What youll bring:
- Experience - 3 years of experience in administrative accounting banking or customer service role
- Education - High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in finance accounting or related field a plus

- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including professional phone etiquette.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment.
- High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and security.
- Ability to recognize potential fraud indicators and escalate appropriately.
- Technical Skills
- Comfortable working with financial systems transaction processing platforms and Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong aptitude for working with numbers and reconciling financial data.
