Job Summary
The MBPS Actuarial department provides actuarial services to Manulife business areas across Asia and North America specializing in model validation experiencestudiesand valuation work.In addition to providing exciting work in the actuarial field our Actuarial Development Program also offersstrong supportand incentives for writing Society of Actuaries (SoA) exams as well as the opportunity to rotate periodically into new roles to gain a broader knowledge and experience base.
We arecurrentlysearching for talented and motivatedindividuals with prior actuarial experience to help our team grow.The desired qualifications andanticipatedjob responsibilities are listed below.
Position Responsibilities:
Successfulcandidateswill have responsibilities related to one or more of the following:
Develop and test actuarial models in GGY Axis or other software.
Maintain and run valuation models for monthly/quarterly reserve calculation and financial reporting.
Analyzereserve capital and risk calculations and provide commentary on results to management.
Mentor junior team members and review their valuation work
Supports control walkthroughs ensuringappropriate focusis placed on keycontrolscollection and presentation of audit evidence is done in accordancetoSOX guidelines.
Activelyparticipatesonproject teams to ensure tasks meet requirements and deadlines.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree inActuarial ScienceMathematicsorStatistics
Strong knowledgeable in variousactuarial concepts and their application to life insurance probability interest theory life contingencies.
Demonstrated strong quantitativeanalyticalandproblem solvingskills.
Abilityto communicatecomplex actuarial conceptsclearly andconciselyboth orally and in writingto both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong interpersonal skills; good team player.
Can perform tasks with minimal supervision anddemonstratedabilityto workwellunder pressure.
Demonstratedstrongknowledge in database software andMicrosoft Excel.Knowledge ofVBAmacrosand actuarial modeling software (e.g.GGY Axis)is preferred but not.
Driven toattaindesignation in any recognized actuarial organization (e.g.SoA ASP).Haspassedall five (5)SoApreliminaryexams.
