Position Overview
Under the direction of the Director of Research Data Analyst III will play a key role in managing and analyzing EHR and administrative claims data within the Tennessee Population Health Data Network (TN-POPnet). This advanced-level position supports high-impact public health initiatives conducted by the Tennessee Population Health Consortium (TNPHC) the Center for Health Systems Improvement (CHIS) and the UTHSC as a whole.
The role requires expertise in PL/SQL SQL Tableau and PowerBI along with a strong background in healthcare data analysis experience working with EMR systems or applications and project leadership. The Data Analyst III will help operationalize research questions create study cohorts apply advanced statistical methods and interpret findings for scientific operational and strategic purposes.

Key Responsibilities
Data Management & Analysis
Extracts data from multiple EMR systems across different healthcare organization and transfer it to the central repository (TN-POPnet) through a secure channel.
Manage large linked EHR and claims datasets to create core analytical files.
Design execute and interpret statistical analyses (including descriptive statistics multivariable regression and survival analysis).
Formulate study cohorts and analytic approaches in collaboration with investigators.
Build and maintain Tableau dashboards to track performance metrics and trends.
Generate practice improvement reports for participating data providers.
Project Leadership & Collaboration
Lead strategic analytical projects across TNHHN Health Hubs CDC and other initiatives.
Contribute to the expansion and strategic planning of the TN-POPnet analytical team.
Supervise and mentor Junior Data Analyst.
Maintain and oversee the TN-POPnet automated text-messaging system.
Collaborate with UT IT UTHSC CBMI and external stakeholders to maintain and enhance the data network.
Research Support
Develop research designs and analysis plans with study investigators.
Prepare tables figures and materials for publications and grant applications.
Participate in manuscript writing and reporting.
Support IRB submissions ensure compliance with data security policies and uphold ethical research standards.
Administrative & Operational Duties
Maintain detailed documentation of analytic processes and outputs.
Perform data cleaning and quality assurance activities.
Provide GIS-based analyses as required.
Execute other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Masters degree required (in Biostatistics Epidemiology Health Informatics Data Science or related field).
Advanced proficiency (3-years of experience) with programming languages (Python SQL&PL/SQL) and data visualization tools (Tableau & Power BI)
Three years of demonstrable experience managing large complex healthcare datasets.
Knowledge of ICD10 & CPT Codes. Proficiency with statistical analysis techniques: can perform complex regression analysis.
At least one-year experience with HIPAA and data security protocols.
Five years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Access).
Experience working with EMR systems or applications
