What you will be doing:
- Define and execute the overall data strategy leveraging Google Cloud services such as BigQuery Dataflow Cloud Storage and Pub/Sub.
- Lead the design development and maintenance of scalable and robust data pipelines and data warehouse solutions on GCP.
- Manage and mentor a team of data engineers and analysts fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Establish and enforce best practices for data governance quality security and compliance within the GCP environment.
- Collaborate with product engineering and business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical requirements.
- Evaluate and recommend new GCP data technologies and tools to optimize performance and efficiency.
- Oversee the deployment of machine learning and analytical models built on GCPs AI Platform.
What our client is looking for:
- A relevant tertiary qualification would be beneficial (Computer Science Engineering etc.)
- Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer or Cloud Architect certification.
- 3 years of experience in data engineering data architecture or a related field.
- 2 years of experience specifically with the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data services.
- Extensive experience with BigQuery including complex query optimization and performance tuning.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines on GCP.
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g. Looker Tableau).
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
