The role of a Portfolio Underwriting Specialist is to support the delivery of the Underwriting strategy and Portfolio operations to generate desirable growth in the Portfolio and deliver long term profitability.

This role is responsible for supporting continuous improvement tactical and product initiatives across particular brands products and channels. The role identifies and helps to design and implement initiatives that drive both short and longterm business objectives.

With accountability for initiatives that deliver strong P&L and customer outcomes the role ensures all initiatives are delivered in line with compliance and regulatory requirements.

This role suits someone with a strong operational foundation who is looking for the next step to show their ability to think differently design solutions and drive efficiency.

Commercial Direct and Specialised consists of 4 brands (AAMI GIO Suncorp and Vero). The portfolio includes Business Insurance Commercial Motor and Strata.

What youll do:

• Underwriting of new referral business and renewals as per business appetite and acceptability within DUA
• Respond to Customer Service underwriting queries via telephone or referral as allocated and within Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA)
• Assess risk acceptability while keeping our customers at the forefront of any underwriting decision
• Maintain a focus on retention and growth of the portfolio whilst adhering to underwriting policies and guidelines
• Contribute to departmental strategic goals (i.e. SLAs ITR GWP and NPS)
• Adopt customer focus delivery of internal/external services including meeting service level agreements and workflow standards.

What youll bring:

• Minimum 3 years within the Insurance Industry Underwriting experience preferred
• Comprehensive underwriting knowledge of SME Commercial Motor and Strata market
• Experience making recommendations aligned with strategy and risk appetite
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple work streams at once.
