Job Summary
About the Role
AECOM is seeking a Digital Lead PMO to drive digital transformation governance and data-driven delivery across large-scale energy and infrastructure programs. This role will lead the integration of digital tools analytics and PMO best practices to enhance project performance across cost schedule quality and risk dimensions.
The position will play a critical role in enabling digitally enabled project delivery ensuring alignment with AECOMs global digital strategy and supporting complex programs such as renewable energy transmission & distribution substations and hybrid energy systems.
Key Responsibilities
Digital PMO Strategy & Implementation
- Develop and implement a Digital PMO framework aligned with AECOMs enterprise digital strategy.
- Lead digital transformation initiatives across project controls reporting and governance.
- Drive adoption of digital platforms (e.g. dashboards BIM integration data analytics tools).
- Establish a data-driven PMO culture enabling predictive and prescriptive decision-making.
Digital Integration Framework
Demonstrated experience in implementing and managing end-to-end digital integration frameworks across large-scale energy and infrastructure projects enabling seamless data flow real-time decision-making and enhanced project performance.
Domain Experience
Proven digital integration exposure across the following sectors:
- Solar PV Plants (Utility-scale tracker & fixed tilt systems)
- Wind Farms (Onshore / Hybrid renewable integration)
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) (Containerized grid-scale applications)
- Transmission Lines & Primary Substations (PSS) (up to EHV/765kV level)
- Equipment Management & Logistics (supply chain tracking site delivery optimization)
Digital Integration Components
A. Field Data Capture
- Deployment of mobile/digital tools for real-time site data acquisition
- Integration of IoT-enabled devices sensors and inspection systems
- Digitization of construction progress quality checks and commissioning data
B. Integrated Project Controls
- Unified platform integrating:
- Planning & Scheduling (Primavera / MSP)
- Cost Management & Forecasting
- Risk Change and Document Control
- Ensuring single source of truth (SSOT) across all project functions
C. Analytics & AI Layer
- Implementation of advanced analytics for:
- Trend analysis and forecasting
- Risk prediction and mitigation planning
- Utilization of AI/ML models for performance optimization and anomaly detection
D. Central PMO Monitoring & Real-Time Dashboards
- Establishment of centralized PMO dashboards using tools like Power BI / Tableau
- Real-time visibility into:
- Schedule performance (SPI)
- Cost performance (CPI)
- Resource utilization and productivity
- Portfolio-level monitoring across multi-project environments
E. Digital Outcomes & Value Realization
- Faster decision-making through real-time insights
- Predictive analytics enabling proactive risk mitigation
- Improved team efficiency via streamlined workflows and automation
- Scalable execution frameworks applicable across large programs and geographies
Program & Project Controls (Digital Enablement)
- Digitize project controls processes including:
- Planning & scheduling (Primavera P6 / MSP integration)
- Cost control & forecasting
- Risk and opportunity management
- Develop automated dashboards for real-time performance monitoring (SPI CPI KPIs).
- Integrate digital workflows for change management document control and reporting.
Governance & Assurance
- Establish and enforce PMO governance frameworks standards and digital protocols.
- Ensure compliance with AECOMs project lifecycle stage-gate processes and QA/QC systems.
- Lead digital audits assurance reviews and project health checks.
- Maintain centralized digital repositories for risks issues decisions and lessons learned.
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Design and deploy interactive dashboards and BI solutions (e.g. Power BI Tableau).
- Provide executive-level reporting with actionable insights.
- Enable portfolio-level analytics benchmarking and performance tracking.
- Implement predictive analytics for early risk identification and mitigation.
Digital Tools & Innovation
- Lead implementation of:
- BIM / Digital Twin integration (where applicable)
- Common Data Environments (CDE)
- AI/ML-enabled project insights (where feasible)
- Identify and deploy innovative digital solutions to improve project efficiency and delivery outcomes.
Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead and mentor PMO and project controls teams in digital tools and methodologies.
- Build digital capability within PMO functions across projects.
- Conduct training programs on tools dashboards and digital workflows.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Technical Skills
- Project Controls Tools: Primavera P6 MS Project
- Data & Visualization: Power BI Tableau Excel Advanced Analytics
- Digital Platforms: BIM tools CDE systems document management systems
Certifications (Preferred)
- Digital / Data Analytics certifications
Qualifications :
Education
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical / Computer preferred)
- Masters degree (MBA / Project Management / Digital Transformation) preferred
Experience
- 15 years of experience in project controls / PMO / program management
- Minimum 5 years in digital PMO / digital transformation roles
- Experience in energy transmission & distribution renewables or EPC projects
- Proven track record in handling large complex multi-disciplinary programs
