Job Summary

JobSummary:

The STRIDES Morocco Epidemiology and Surveillance Officer I will support the implementation of epidemiology and surveillance activities under the STRIDES Morocco Activity a U.S. Department of State-funded global health security program. This is a locally hired position based in Rabat Morocco. The Officer will provide technical support to government counterparts on infectious disease detection and surveillance systems ensuring alignment with national priorities and international best practices. The Officer willassistin the day-to-day implementation of surveillance-related activitiesmonitorprogress against workplans and support thetimelydelivery ofoutputs. The position reports directly to the Senior Epidemiology and Surveillance Officer.

Accountabilities:

  • Supports day-to-day implementation of country epidemiology and surveillance activities including those related to emerging infectious diseases zoonotic diseases and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) under the guidance of the Senior Epidemiology and Surveillance Officer.

  • Assistsin providing technical support to government counterparts on developing and strengthening infectious disease detection and surveillance systems.

  • Monitors andmaintainsproject protocols instruments data sets manuals training materials and reports related to epidemiology and surveillance.

  • Conductssearchesofpublished literature on evolving issues in epidemiology infectious disease surveillance and global health security.

  • Supports staff and partner capacity building activities including the development and delivery of training materials.

  • Contributes to the development and dissemination of technical briefs tools reports and other materials tofacilitateresearch best practices and procedures.

  • Supports the development and implementation of cross-sectoral surveillance strategies and frameworks relevant to Moroccos health security context.

  • Supports preparation of donor reports annual workplans and other technical deliverables.

  • Participates in client/funder meetings and supports preparation of presentations and reports.

  • Gathers information data and statistics needed to provide evidence for reports presentations and other documentation.

  • Responds to requests and inquiries from internal and external staff.

  • Identifiesand raises issues to the Senior Epidemiology and Surveillance Officer.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Applied Knowledge &Skills:

  • Working knowledge of epidemiologic research and public health surveillance concepts practices and procedures.

  • Familiarity with infectious disease detection systems zoonotic disease surveillance and AMR in the Moroccan and broader MENA context.

  • Strong diagnostic analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret dataidentifyerrors and prepare reports.

  • Articulate professional and able to communicate clearly and positively with clients and staff.

  • Goodoraland written communication skills in French and Arabic. Working knowledge of English is preferred.

  • Demonstratedproficiencywith Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of the political contextual and ethical issues in assigned areas.

  • Hasno supervisoryresponsibility.

  • Reports to the Senior Epidemiology and Surveillance Officer.

Education: ** **

  • Bachelors Degree or its international equivalent in Epidemiology Public Health ora relatedhealth field.

Experience: ****

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in epidemiology surveillance ora relatedpublic health field.

  • Experience supporting infectious disease detection and surveillance programs in Morocco is an advantage.

  • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization government agency or private organizationoperatingin the public health or global health security space.

  • Experience working on USG-funded projects is an advantage.

  • Professional proficiency in French and Arabic (written and spoken) is required. Working knowledge of English is preferred.

The expected hiring salary range for this role is MAD 160000 - 220000 annually for gross salary. When determining an offer amount FHI 360 factors in multiple considerations including but not limited to: relevant years of experience and education possessed by the applicant internal equity market pay and budget.
