Roles and Responsibilities
Business Expertise
Drives capacity planning and throughput optimization for UHV test bays to maximize asset utilization and minimize production bottlenecks.
Manages test lab budgets CAPEX for UHV infrastructure and OPEX controls while maintaining compliance and reliability.
Plays a critical role in customer FATs technical negotiations and closure of contractual test requirements for domestic and export projects.
Enhances customer confidence and repeat business through transparent test execution data integrity and timely issue resolution.
Supports bid and tender activities by validating test capability compliance statements and UHV testing feasibility.
Drives a strong safety culture in UHV testing protecting people assets and brand reputation.
Leadership
Leads and inspires multidisciplinary teams of test engineers HV technicians and safety personnel in high-risk UHV testing environments.
Facilitates effective collaboration between design manufacturing quality and project teams to resolve test-related challenges.
Drives a strong safety-first culture through clear communication of HV risks procedures and accountability.
Leads technical discussions and negotiations on test deviations concessions and standard interpretations with customers and third parties.
Manages high-pressure situations during critical test windows with calm leadership and decisive direction.
Promotes knowledge sharing through post-test reviews technical forums and lessons-learned sessions.
Represents the test laboratory in audits reviews and cross-functional leadership forums.
Problem Solving
Diagnoses in test failures during routine type and special tests for transformers minimizing re-testing and schedule impact.
Troubleshoot lightning and switching impulse test issues including waveform distortion excessive chopping and unexpected failures at UHV levels.
Resolves partial discharge anomalies by differentiating internal PD surface discharges and external noise through pattern analysis and noise mitigation techniques.
Manages unexpected test interruptions (equipment trips bay constraints safety interlocks) with rapid recovery plans to protect critical dispatch dates.
Makes high-stakes decisions under time pressure while maintaining safety compliance and product integrity.
Required Qualifications
This role requires advanced experience in the testing & testing set up development above 765 kV Power Transformers.
Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
