We are currently seeking a Geoscience Summer Student to join our team in Calgary. Reporting to the Team Lead Business Development Geosciences this role sits within the Business Development team and provides hands-on exposure to subsurface evaluation work that supports acquisition development and strategic decision-making. As a summer student you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of geoscientists engineers and commercial professionals gaining practical experience in geological interpretation data integration and prospect evaluation across active projects.
Responsibilities:
Creating maintaining and updating existing subsurface projects.
Assist with wireline well log correlations.
If possible view and log relevant core to interpret the depositional system.
Create geologic cross sections and related stratigraphic mapping.
With the help of a Petrophysicist perform basic petrophysical analysis on available log control through bulk user defined equations in Geological mapping software (Integrate available XRD and Core Analysis into interpretation).
Compile net pay phi(H) and hydrocarbon volumetric maps
Identify areas for further hydrocarbon development
Present findings to team with recommendations for next steps
Qualifications & Skills:
3rd or 4th year Geology undergraduate or MSc Geoscience student currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution.
Knowledge of clastic sedimentology and stratigraphy with comfort looking at core.
Key interpersonal skills - team player developing and giving presentations and a strong communicator.
Ability to adapt be professional be self-motivated learn quickly able to change pace as required manage confidential information problem solve think critically and prioritize business needs.
Experience with MS Office and Adobe; willingness to learn geoScout Geographix and other geological mapping tools.
General knowledge of Python and analytical platforms such as PowerBI Spotfire and Tableau will be considered an asset.
