Assistant School Director

Position Overview

The Assistant School Director serves as a key instructional and culture leader supporting the School Director in ensuring strong academic outcomes a structured learning environment and consistent execution of ScholarMades model. This role requires daily visibility direct coaching of teachers and ownership of systems that drive student achievement operations and school culture.

The Assistant School Director is responsible for leading instructional improvement through coaching data analysis and formal evaluation aligned to the TESS / Arkansas LEADS 2.0 framework.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of the Weekly Instructional Plan (WIP) with fidelity across all classrooms
  • Conduct frequent classroom observations with immediate actionable feedback
  • Coach teachers on lesson execution student engagement and alignment to standards
  • Ensure consistent use of:
    • Approved Curriculum
    • Blueprint Pacing Guides
    • Formative Assessment Platforms (including Progress Learning and ATLAS Classroom Tool)
  • Monitor lesson plans for alignment to curriculum pacing and standards
  • Lead and support corrective instruction cycles based on student performance data
  • Protect instructional time from disruption

2. Data Monitoring & Academic Progress (Domains 1 & 3)

  • Lead weekly data reviews aligned to school improvement goals
  • Analyze student performance data to identify trends and instructional gaps
  • Ensure targeted small-group instruction and intervention are implemented
  • Monitor Tier 2 and Tier 3 student progress
  • Use data to drive instructional adjustments and coaching priorities

3. School Culture & Discipline (Domain 2: School Culture & Climate)

  • Maintain a safe structured and orderly learning environment
  • Oversee and enforce a clear consistent discipline system
  • Ensure discipline practices are fair consistent and minimize loss of instructional time
  • Support teachers with classroom management and student engagement strategies
  • Be highly visible during arrival transitions meals and dismissal
  • Ensure consistent enforcement of school-wide expectations (uniforms cell phones procedures)

4. Staff Coaching Evaluation & Development (Domain 3C & Domain 4)

  • Conduct formal teacher evaluations using the TESS system including:
    • Scheduled and unscheduled observations
    • Accurate ratings aligned to TESS rubrics
    • Timely actionable feedback tied to instructional practice
  • Maintain an organized system of teacher observation and evaluation
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support especially for novice teachers
  • Align professional development to observed instructional needs
  • Support teacher growth through feedback modeling and follow-up

5. Testing Coordination & Readiness (Domains 1 & 3)

  • Support preparation and execution of state and internal assessments
  • Ensure staff and students are trained on testing procedures and tools
  • Monitor testing environments to maintain compliance and integrity
  • Assist in managing testing schedules and logistics

6. Operations & Campus Management (Domain 1: Organization & Management)

  • Monitor meals daily ensuring:
    • Smooth transitions and supervision
    • Student behavior expectations are upheld
    • Staff engagement and presence
  • Oversee transportation operations including:
    • Arrival and dismissal procedures
    • Bus routines and student safety
  • Support discipline systems ensuring:
    • Timely response to incidents
    • Accurate documentation
    • Alignment to school expectations
  • Monitor facility cleanliness and safety ensuring:
    • Classrooms hallways restrooms and common areas are clean and orderly
    • The physical environment reflects high expectations and readiness for learning
    • Immediate follow-up on maintenance or safety concerns
  • Support scheduling coverage and daily operations
  • Communicate clearly with staff and families

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required; Masters degree in Education or Leadership preferred
  • Valid Arkansas teaching license preferred; leadership certification preferred
  • Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes
  • Strong instructional and classroom management expertise
  • Experience coaching or evaluating teachers preferred
