Are you looking for an opportunity where you can ensure Social Security Scotland remains compliant secure and operationally resilient If so this might be the role for you.

The Place Services team are seeking a B3 Acting Protective Security Manager on temporary promotion or temporary level transfer for a period of 6 months. This is an exciting time to join with Protective Security team with work including the ongoing role out of UK GovPass across the agency and managing a contract and outputs with the UK Government Protective Security Centre.

As Acting Protective Security Manager you will ensure that critical facilities (including locations that house critical technical infrastructure industrial control systems and specialised equipment) are protected to prevent important services from being disrupted by loss of or damage to equipment or services. You will also champion awareness of physical and personnel security issues within the organisation supporting the wider team with coordinating information security activity to ensure that security activities are carried out in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Champion good security practice and handle local personnel and physical security issues escalating where appropriate.
  • Work with the Security Compliance team on developing and implementing physical and personnel security controls to ensure alignment with applicable standards such as Government Functional Standard GovS 007: Security.
  • Support internal and external audits of physical and personnel security controls.
  • Interpret implement and monitor security controls for the appropriate maintenance of personnel security for National Security Vetted staff.
  • Ownership and maintenance of the physical and personnel security risk register where risks are identified documented tracked mitigated and monitored.
  • Undertake risk assessments to identify and manage security weaknesses.
  • Retain records of incidents and risks using this data to influence policy and procedures based on lessons learned.
  • Maintain awareness of current and emerging threats and issues; and their potential impact on security practices.
  • Create and maintain a robust insider threat strategy including training and reporting mechanisms and champion the mitigation of insider threat through effective Personnel and Physical security practices.

For this temporary opportunity the following Success Profile elements will be assessed:

Experience

  • Experience of working within a security environment providing advice to a range of stakeholders on security standards
  • Experience of undertaking risk assessments ideally with a focus on physical personnel or counter terrorism.
  • Experience of managing multiple projects or initiatives independently using recognised project management methodologies.

Hybrid Working
We embrace a hybrid working style where all colleagues will spend time in either our Glasgow or Dundee offices. There is an expectation of a minimum 2 days per week in your assigned location which is either Agnes Husband House Dundee or High Street Glasgow.
