The Senior Azure Platform Engineer Managed Services is a hands-on cloud engineering role responsible for the operational stability reliability automation and continuous improvement of business-critical platforms hosted on Microsoft Azure.
This role operates within a standalone Azure Cloud Managed Service model delivering Level 2 and Level 3 platform support across Production Pre-Production and Development environments.
The role blends deep technical engineering expertise with managed service operational discipline and requires strong AKS Azure PaaS Terraform CI/CD and observability capabilities.
The Senior Engineer collaborates closely with the Cloud Lead and acts as a technical escalation point and substitute during periods of absence.
Responsibilities
Provide Level 2 and Level 3 operational support for Azure platform components
Manage and support Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters and containerised workloads
Troubleshoot and remediate platform incidents across Azure PaaS services including:
Azure API Management
Application Gateway & Ingress
Azure Functions
Azure Key Vault
Azure Storage & Data Lake
Azure Networking (VNet Private Link VPN ExpressRoute)
Microsoft Entra ID (Service Accounts & Managed Identities)
Participate in 24 7 on-call rotation for Priority 1 and Priority 2 incidents
Lead complex technical investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
Implement and review Terraform Infrastructure-as-Code changes
Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines for platform and workload deployments
Implement automation to reduce operational toil (runbooks scripting event-driven remediation)
Perform platform upgrades patching and security remediation
Liaise with Microsoft Azure support and third-party vendors for escalations
Contribute to continuous improvement of monitoring alerting and observability platforms
Work within ITIL-aligned incident problem change and service request processes
Collaborate with engineering and development teams
Provide technical mentoring and knowledge sharing within the team
Act as technical substitute for the Cloud Lead when required
