Job Summary:

The Accountability Technical Specialist plays an important role in supporting Arizonas statewide school accountability system. This position works closely with data analysts and education professionals to help interpret accountability calculations review data submissions and respond to technical questions from schools and districts across the state. The role involves explaining how accountability measures are calculated assisting with basic data validation and processing and helping ensure schools understand reporting timelines and requirements. Applicants should be comfortable working with data have strong problem-solving skills and be interested in developing technical skills such as database querying (SQL) and understanding how education data systems operate.
In addition to these technical responsibilities this position also provides operational support for the Accountability and Research team. Duties include coordinating customer service requests from the field assisting with contracts and procurement supporting logistics and facilities coordination and helping maintain smooth day-to-day operations for the unit. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining analytical work with collaboration and communication and who is interested in supporting educators while developing technical expertise in education data and accountability systems.
Occasional in-state travel is required for this position.

The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs). Candidates should apply with an ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.

Job Duties:

Provide technical and data support to internal staff and external stakeholders:
Respond to inquiries regarding accountability processes calculations timelines and reporting requirements
Explain and provide training on accountability methodologies technical calculations and data submission processes
Assist with basic data validation review and processing to support accountability reporting and auditing
Serve as a liaison between schools/districts and the Accountability data team to clarify technical questions and resolve data issues
Support accountability data quality by identifying potential discrepancies assisting with data checks and coordinating follow-up with analysts and stakeholders***
Operational Support for the Accountability Team:
Coordinate meeting logistics including preparing and distributing save-the-date notices and scheduling support
Arrange and manage staff travel logistics including reservations itineraries and required documentation
Submit and manage facilities requests for meetings trainings and team events
Manage procurement activities including purchasing card (P-card) transactions supply orders and contract processing
Communicate key updates tasks and deadlines to internal staff and external partners through phone email web postings and secure file transfers
Data entry and updating
Reports
Survey monitoring

Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge in:
Interpreting and communicating technical procedures calculations or program requirements to stakeholders
Professional communication with internal staff and external partners via phone email and written correspondence
Basic data validation quality assurance and data review processes willingness to learn basic database querying (e.g. SQL)

Preference will be given to those applicants who have experience with SQL and/or other computer programming.
