Summary
Hitachi America Ltd. ( ) has openings for a Power Systems Research Scientist in the Energy Solution Laboratory located in Silicon Valley. The laboratory focuses on research technology innovation proof-of-concept activities technical marketing and business development for novel energy solutions leveraging Hitachis technologies reinforcing Hitachis messaging around IoT technologies and establishing Hitachi as a leader in big data. Were looking for a team player who is motivated by delivering great work and the Hitachi vision. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and background:
Power System Research Scientist in the areas of electric power distribution and transmission systems
Conduct research in power system analysis focusing on both distribution and transmission.
Collaborate with internal and external cross-functional teams including utility partners academic institutions and government agencies.
Publish research findings in peer-reviewed paper/journal
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or any other related degree with 1-3 years of experiences in power system.
Demonstrated expertise in both distribution and transmission system analysis.
Knowledge of transmission analysis such as power flow stability and contingency analysis is preferred.
Knowledge of economic analysis preferred.
Knowledge of distribution power flow analytics nature of electrical loads is preferred.
Knowledge of smart grid technologies microgrids DER management and control systems is preferred.
Proficiency in Python is a must.
Proficiency in AI/ML algorithm development is preferred.
Familiar with power system simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink OpenDSS PSSE or GridLAB-D is preferred.

For California only (as required by Californias Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act (SB 1162): The expected salary for this position in our California office is $113800 - $142250. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including but not limited to depth of experience in the practice area. Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi Americas variable pay program subject to the programs conditions and restrictions.
