SUMMARY
Kenowa Hills Public Schools is seeking a PBIS General Education Paraprofessional to support students in a general education setting through academic and behavioral interventions. This role is both challenging and deeply rewarding requiring patience consistency and a strong commitment to students.

This role focuses on supporting students who require additional structure redirection and support to successfully access instruction and meet school expectations. This position is highly active and requires individuals who are consistent relationship-driven and able to respond to student needs in real time across a variety of school environments.
QUALIFICATIONS AND DUTIES
- Must meet NCLB (ESSA) qualifications for paraprofessionals including one of the following:
- Associates degree or equivalent credit hours
- Passing score on the ETS ParaPro Assessment
- CPI and Ukeru training required as a condition of employment (will train)
- Experience working with Pre-K12 students preferred
- Ability to support students in both academic and behavioral areas including implementation of Tier 2 interventions
- Ability to implement academic supports behavior plans and PBIS-aligned strategies with consistency and fidelity
- Ability to use age-appropriate tone and language with students
- Establish and maintain consistent routines expectations and structure for students
- Ability to function effectively and collaboratively as a member of an instructional team
- Support classroom instruction including small group and individual student support
- Ability to supervise students in a variety of settings including classrooms hallways recess and other unstructured environments
- Ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with students and staff
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Reliable and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position
- Ability to complete basic documentation and communication as needed
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires a high level of physical activity and responsiveness throughout the school day. The employee must be able to:
- Walk stand and move continuously throughout the day across multiple environments (classroom hallways playground and outdoor spaces)
- Bend squat kneel and sit on the floor when working with students
- Move quickly and safely in response to student needs including following or redirecting students
- Lift assist or move materials and/or students (up to 50 pounds) as needed
The work environment may include:
- Indoor and outdoor supervision in varying weather conditions
- Moderate to high noise levels and frequent transitions
- Unstructured and semi-structured settings (recess arrival/dismissal transitions)
This role also requires:
- Supporting students who may demonstrate behavioral or emotional dysregulation including verbal outbursts refusal elopement or unsafe behaviors
- Implementing de-escalation strategies and approved safety interventions (CPI/Ukeru)
- Maintaining a calm consistent and structured environment during both instructional and non-instructional times
- Supporting students in re-engaging with instruction and completing academic tasks
- Implementing both academic supports and behavior plans with fidelity
The ability to remain calm patient and responsive while managing multiple demands is essential.
This position is not assigned to a specific special education caseload but may support students with a range of academic and behavioral needs in a general education setting.
