Description of Work

This position is located in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina at Mountain View Correctional Institution in Avery County. Mountain View is a medium custody male facility that houses approximately 908 offenders. We offer a variety of educational classes and programs to promote offender rehabilitation.
The Administrative Associate II position in this class is characterized by its performance of a variety of administrative clerical and office support duties. This position will serve as the secretary for Programs. Positions require knowledge of the office or work unit policies and procedures in order to communicate information involving programs functions and services. Duties performed may include preparation of documents and reports composition of memos and letters the use of office technology compiling records organizing and maintaining files posting information greeting referring assisting visitors clients staff and others mail distribution and photocopying. Positions may serve as the primary staff assistant to a department or program manager. Positions may serve as an office coordinator for a work unit.
KEY Duties:
Effectively communicate with offenders staff and members of the public.
Documented use of office equipment and other technology (software and systems) to meet work needs.
Meeting deadlines and setting priorities.
Implement update and maintain filing system.

About The Division of Institutions:
The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum medium close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety security and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff program facilitators and administrative personnel.
