The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated Engineer in Training (EIT) with a targeted start date of Fall 2026 who is transitioning from university into the energy industry and is eager to develop a career in pipeline integrity maintenance and project management.
In this role you will work under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers to support the planning execution and reporting of pipeline integrity and maintenance activities. This position offers hands-on exposure to regulated pipeline operations while building a strong foundation toward professional engineering (.) designation.
This position is open to candidates located in Calgary Alberta Canada.
What youll do
Under supervision and mentorship the successful candidate will:
- Support pipeline integrity and maintenance projects from initiation through close out
- Assist with planning scheduling and cost tracking of maintenance and integrity programs
- Coordinate with internal teams field crews contractors and service providers
- Prepare project documentation including scopes of work schedules cost estimates and status reports
- Track regulatory safety environmental and quality requirements
- Participate in field activities inspections and contractor oversight as required
- Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance and integrity processes
- Assist with review of contractor technical submissions work procedures and inspection results
- Ensure engineering work aligns with Industry Codes/Standards Regulatory requirements and internal engineering practices
- Participate in field activities to support engineering decision making and improve constructability
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical)
- Eligibility or registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) with APEGA
- Strong organizational communication and analytical skills
- Basic understanding of engineering principles related to pipelines or infrastructure
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel Word Outlook); familiarity with scheduling tools is an asset
- Willingness to work in both office and field environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship co op or summer student experience in pipelines integrity maintenance or construction
- Exposure to project management fundamentals
- Familiarity with pipeline integrity concepts (corrosion inspections repairs risk assessment)
- Interest in regulatory compliance and safety driven work environments
This position requires candidates to:
- Have and maintain a valid drivers license and provide a drivers abstract (record) for review
- Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments meetings or training (estimated up 20% of work schedule)
- Be part of an on-call rotation and provide emergency support as required
- Successfully complete pre-employment background checks
