Job Summary

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Admitting-Discharge Manager to oversee Patient Access Services (PAS) including Admitting Discharge Referrals Authorizations and Scheduling. This role is responsible for leading teams improving processes ensuring compliance and driving high-quality patient access operations in a hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of Admitting Discharge Referrals Authorizations and Scheduling
  • Manage and support Admitting/Discharge Supervisors and staff
  • Resolve insurance billing and coding-related issues
  • Address and resolve patient complaints professionally and efficiently
  • Develop and monitor policies procedures and quality assurance practices
  • Track and report on KPIs and operational performance metrics
  • Serve as a liaison between departments to improve workflow and communication
  • Lead strategic planning and process improvement initiatives

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Business Finance Accounting or related field
  • 5 years of Admitting/Discharge supervisory experience in a hospital or physician office setting
  • Experience with scheduling referrals and patient access operations
  • Prior experience in a salaried (FLSA-exempt) leadership role

Systems

  • Proficient with EPIC and UKG Kronos Workforce

Additional Requirements

  • 1 year Emergency Department experience (Trauma Adult and/or Pediatrics)
  • 1 year Main Admitting experience (hospital ASU or outpatient departments)
  • Experience managing multiple schedules and teams
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed

    • Medical terminology and basic coding principles
  • Ability to:
    • Lead teams and manage performance
    • Resolve complex patient access and admitting issues

    • Analyze data and improve operational efficiency
    • Communicate effectively across teams and departments

  • Hospital-based office setting
  • Extended periods of sitting and computer use
