Summary of Job Duties:
The Accounting & Compliance Specialist is responsible for the processing analysis interpretation and management of financial accounting data.Typical Functions:
Review and process Workday transactions for compliance and accuracy. Prepare and process data files using mass data upload tools. Prepare and post accounting journals and budget amendments.
Prepare various financial reports including state federal and ad-hoc reports.
Assist with year-end processes Perform general ledger account reconciliations Assist in gathering and reviewing data for preparation of fiscal year budget Assist other departments within the Business Office when needed in various accounting duties.
Participate in the development and implementation of new processes and procedures Perform other duties as assigned.
This position is governed by Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) state and federal laws and institution policy.
Regular reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty as is the ability to create and maintain collegial harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelors degree in accounting business administration or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
2 years of relevant professional experience
Workday financials experience
Higher Education or State Government experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of accounting principles financial statements and ledgers
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and computer technology related to accounting systems.
Ability to establish maintain and reconcile accounting records and reports.
Ability to interpret and apply provisions of laws rules or policies to specific situations.
Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports.
Ability to provide guidance and technical assistance to end users.
Ability to scrutinize transactions for accuracy.
Ability to organize plan & prioritize work.
