Position Summary

Responsible for the safe and efficient dispensing of methadone medication to patients in compliance with WAC FDA DEA and Pharmacy regulations and clinic policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Accurately and efficiently dispenses daily doses of methadone/methadose medications

Maintains current inventory of medication and medical supplies in secure environment

Assessment of patients physical condition; reporting observations to supervisor either verbally or in writing

Alerts treatment staff of any observed changes in patients status

Maintains accurate dispensing records

Daily review of medical order book and recording of changes

Maintains current statistical records

Accounts for all medication used during dispensary shift

Ensures accuracy of records to avoid medication discrepancies and takes corrective action as needed

Explains the proper use of dispensed medication and its effects to clients

Performs TB tests on staff and clients as needed

Nurse will perform labs as needed

Inventories and orders supplies as needed

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this on the medical mobile unit conditions. The Medical Mobile Unit is a small enclosed area the unit does provide protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes and is subject to outside environmental conditions and to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Frequently involves sedentary work.

May assist in the setup/closure of the Medical Mobile Unit team on a daily bases

Occasionally involves light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force and/or negligible amount of force to move objects.

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Constantly requires the ability to give and receive detailed information through verbal communication.

Constantly requires verbally expressing or exchanging ideas of important instructions accurately loudly or quickly.

Constantly requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm.

Constantly requires repetitive movement of the wrists hands and/or fingers.

Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.

Occasionally requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time.

Occasionally requires ascending or descending stairs or ramps using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.

Occasionally requires raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally.

Occasionally requires stooping which entails the use of the lower extremities and back muscles. Infrequently requires crouching.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Qualifications

Current license to practice as a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse in the state of Washington

A degree or studies in social science or medical field preferred three years experience

Ability to pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug swab

WA state drivers license and ability to be approved by Tribal insurance to drive Tribal vehicles.

Travel Requirements

Travel is required to location of Medical Mobile Unit.
